As usual our summer has consisted of lots and lots of swimming! The kids did awesome in swimming lessons this year! Caleb was the youngest in his class and he kept right up with all of them. Everyone else was about 7-8 years old and here he was this little, not even 6 year old swimming right along with them. He had two sessions of lessons and now he's got a pretty much perfect front crawl/freestyle stroke and a pretty darn good backstroke and elementary backstroke. He is so funny because he is a listener. I can just see his mind wrapping around the things the teacher is teaching them and he just does it, every single little step. For example, with the backstroke their pinkies enter the water first when their arm is extended overhead. After his arm comes out of the water he deliberately turns his hand so his pinky will go in first. And it's a very deliberate hand turn. It is so funny to watch. He does it every time because... well... that's how you do it. It's pretty cute. His teacher thinks he's ready for the swim team next year! I'm so excited about it! Maybe he'll win a medal for backstroke even younger than I did! I think he'll love it!
Brynley did awesome in lessons too. She actually went off the diving board (with a little help -ahem- shove) and was happy about it. She is now jumping off the side and swimming to us which, for her, is huge!
This year Caleb is finally old enough to go on the slide by himself at the Scera Pool and he's a good enough swimming to go off the diving board. There are so many more options now at the pool!
Here's a shot of this cute little girl in her high chair:
