Trip to the Apple Orchards

Today Brynley's preschool class took a trip to the Apple Farms! We had so much fun!

We took a wagon ride down to the orchards. We got to walk through the orchards and pick an apple (or 2 or 3... oops.) These apples were SO good! Holy cow. Then we got to wagon ride it back to the gift shop where they gave all of us apple donuts. I had a bite of Brynley's and it was mighty tasty!

Doesn't it look like she's enjoying herself?

Has she changed much since the last time we came here?

Cute little girl.

Oh, she said something funny the other day that I wanted to take note of. As you can see in the pictures above, I changed my hair again. I went dark! It was time for a touch up but I'm doing a triahlon in November and red fades SO fast when it hits chlorine so I had to go a different route. I went dark! I love it! Anyway, when I got home after getting it done here is the conversation that ensued:

Brynley: Mom, what color is your hair?
Me: It's brown.
Brynley: (after running her fingers through it and carefully inspecting it) Hey mom! It's brown AND white!
Me: Yeah it is!
Brynley: Mom, does your hair change colors?

I had to laugh at that one! Gotta love little girls!

Happy First Birthday Aubrey!

Last Friday was Aubrey's first birthday! I am so sad she is growing up so fast. Why does time just CRAWL when you are pregnant but flies when you're not?! She is such a wonderful little baby and we all are just nuts over her.

We did a pretty low key party. We just had my parents, cousin Katie and Saundra and kids over for some homemade pizza and cupcakes.

Jackson and London gave Aubrey a box of Kleenex and a puzzle. Can you guess which was her favorite present of the night?

She was probably the funniest "first-time-cake-eater" out of all my kids. Oh my gosh, it was hilarious. Once she first started poking at the cake and realized it was all hers to do what she wanted with, she got this happy wide open mouth face. It was SO cute!

Wow, can you tell there's a large amount of butter in this recipe? Ew.

Kleenex and wrapping paper. It's really all a baby needs!

Here are few tidbits about Aubrey on her first birthday:
-Aubrey is 22.1 lbs (77th percentile) and 31 inches tall (95th percentile)
-Aubrey is going back and forth between one and two naps lately. Two is sometimes too many especially if the first is just a little too long and one is never enough for her to get through the whole day happily.
-She goes to bed around 7-7:30pm and sleeps straight through until 7 or 7:30am.
-Aubrey LOVES other kids, especially her brother and sister. When they play (nicely) with her she gets so excited.
-She loves the swings. When you jump down and play peek a boo and tickle her while she swings she dies laughing.
-Aubrey is a really goofy girl. Sometimes for no reason she'll just start laughing. You look over at her and laugh back and she just keeps on going!
-She loves to play games. She'll make little noises at you or throw toys to you trying to get a response. When you play along she loves it!

Aubrey Kate is the sweetest little baby ever and we are so lucky to have her!

Caleb's First School Project

Caleb had to do a diorama for school. It had to be about the Ice Age. He was so excited to do this and he did it pretty much all by himself. He was SO proud!

Daddy loves Brynley

How cute are these pictures? And how hot is a dad lovin' on his little girl?

Cute, cute pictures of my cute, cute kiddos

Oh my gosh, I want to eat her, runny nose and all!

Look how much they love each other, for this one single minute:

Time for an Old Fashioned Carnival!

On Saturday my Grandma's assisted living center had a big carnival. The kids had a great time and my Grandma absolutely LOVES that we come. She shows the kids off to all of her friends. It's so funny. There was cotton candy, corn dogs, watermelon and corn on the cob (I had lots of these two), carnival games, wagon rides, duck feeding, face painting and a really stupid magic show. It really was dumb. I felt bad though because Caleb, Brynley and their cousins were all in the front of the crowd. After about 10 minutes Caleb, Brynley, Abby and James all walked back to us in the back because they were bored and wanted to leave. So we ducked out. We weren't the only ones though and it seemed like a lot of people decided to leave when we did.

We had tons of fun with great grandma, and the kids love seeing their cousins so often now that they are in Utah! We're so glad to have you guys close again after so long!

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Brynley's preschool class did a little program for Grandparent's Day. Grandpa got to be Brynley's date for the grand event! Everyone involved was very excited that moms weren't supposed to go. Just Grandpa and Brynley! They sang songs, made a craft and had a treat. Brynley was so excited to go with just her and Grandpa! Thanks, Dad, for making her day!

Our garden has a mind of its own...

How green are we?

On Friday I got a road bike!!! Oh my gosh, I love my new bike so much. It is so pretty. And it helps me go so fast. My speed increased at least a good 3mph JUST because of the bike! Crazy!

We wanted to test out the bike so we got a babysitter and Brandon and I rode to the Farmer's Market in Provo. (How green is that, right? I mean really, biking to the Farmer's Market?! On a green side note, I bought reusable shopping bags at Walmart and besides the fact that they are good for the environment, they can pack those things so full because they are so strong. I just throw them over my shoulder and I can usually get ALL my groceries into the house in ONE trip! Anyway...)

We rode to the Farmer's Market and I just flew. I kept right up with Brandon most of the time. I don't think he had to slow down too much for me... (Ok, I don't want you all to think I'm some speedster. I think I go more of an average speed now. I was really slow before and I used to blame it on my bike. I'm just happy to know that I was right!)

Here's what you've all been waiting for, pictures of the pretty bike:

Do you love it?!

Here's Brandon with his bike (he wanted a picture with his bike, too. JK. I made him do it):

The Farmer's market was really fun. We got all sorts of fun treats and fruits and veggies. We got some teeny little grapes that just popped in your mouth. We also got to try lemon cucumbers. Really. They look like a lemon, taste like a cucumber with a little bit of ... wait for it... lemon. We got some amazing tomatoes, apples, fresh honey, some yucky eggplant (we don't like eggplant, but thought we'd give it another try) and some peaches that would be yummy if they didn't keep getting yucky spots.

Anyway, we had a great time and it was a very romantic, sweaty date.

After we showered, we took the kids up to Pirate Island Pizza. It is a new restaurant up in Orem. It is similar to Rainforest Cafe and The Mayan in that it is all about the decor and atmosphere. The kids had a great time. These are their scary pirate faces:
